Bayern Munich have confirmed that Vincent Kompany remains in hospital for further medical assessment after the Belgian collapsed during a training session with the club’s reserve team on Friday.
The incident required an emergency doctor’s attendance before Kompany was taken to a hospital in Munich.
Bayern provided the update ahead of their Bundesliga fixture against Freiburg on Sunday.
In a statement posted on X, the club said Kompany is “undergoing thorough examinations in hospital and will remain under medical care.”
That means the former Manchester City defender will not be on the touchline for the Freiburg match.
Bayern added that his coaching staff will take charge of Saturday’s training and matchday responsibilities until further notice.
