Bryson DeChambeau seems to be the only big-name player who is fully behind the idea of playing on LIV Golf 2.0.
The list of players who have committed to LIV Golf 2.0 so far makes for fairly grim reading. Richard Bland, Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele, Victor Perez and Ben Campbell have all publicly declared their commitment to LIV 2.0.

That in itself should set alarm bells ringing for anyone who is involved with LIV Golf. Of course, Bryson DeChambeau is still yet to officially declare his future intentions.
And if DeChambeau does commit to LIV Golf 2.0, their chances of succeeding will significantly increase. However, even if LIV Golf does grow into a viable tour over the next few leagues, it won’t even be on the same level as the DP World Tour.
It’s well down the pecking order already, and there is no sign that they will ever become a profitable business. This is why DeChambeau remaining with LIV Golf would be such a poor move from him.
In fairness to him, he hasn’t made a concrete decision either way yet. DeChambeau is still undecided on his future, but all the signals are pointing towards him re-signing with LIV.

There is no future in LIV Golf 2.0. Sure, the league may well carry on next year and the year after. Who knows? They may even operate for another decade or so. However, the underlying issue is that they simply do not have the star power required to make their tournaments must-watch live television.
And that cannot be a good thing for DeChambeau the golfer. Unfortunately for him, his pride seems to be getting in the way of him giving himself a chance of winning another major championship.
Surely DeChambeau can see that LIV Golf 2.0 will not appeal to the masses. There will undoubtedly be some golf fans who tune in to watch the two-time US Open champion play. But the vast majority of fans will have zero interest in watching tournaments that have no meaning or history attached to them.

In spite of what the 33-year-old claims, he must know that the best place for him to play his golf and to remain competitive is the PGA Tour.
It isn’t rocket science. The PGA Tour has the best fields, plays on the best courses and it has the most lucrative purses. The biggest and most prestigious tournaments in the game outside of the major championships are also on the PGA Tour.
The only reason I can see why DeChambeau would be speaking in such glowing terms is because of his ego and his pride. He has supported the concept of LIV Golf since its inception in 2022.
And the two-time major champion has too much pride to perform a U-turn and admit that he was wrong about LIV. The problem for him is that his stubbornness could really cost him in the majors moving forward.

It’s fair to say that LIV Golf did not adequately prepare its players for the major championships. Only two LIV Golf players have won a major while playing with the league – DeChambeau at the US Open in 2024 and Brooks Koepka at the PGA Championship in 2023.
Now, LIV 2.0 will consist of even fewer tournaments and perhaps on even weaker golf courses. The fields certainly won’t be as strong as they once were in 2027 onwards.
Bryson DeChambeau’s best chance of winning another major would have been for him to play on the DP World Tour in 2027 before returning to the PGA Tour in 2028. However, his pride clearly won’t allow him to do that, and that’s incredibly sad not only for him, but also for golf fans across the globe.
