Watch: SAG Awards 2025: Luke Newton Spills ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Updates & How Polin’s Love Continues
Luke Newton and Antonia Roumelioti would like their dearest readers to be nicer.
Indeed, the Bridgerton star and the professional dancer—who confirmed their romance in 2024—recently addressed the mounting online criticism she’s faced during their relationship.
“For the past three years,” Roumelioti wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Stories Sept. 5, “I have faced relentless scrutiny and countless false narratives about both myself and the people closest to me. Although speaking out may not change anything, I will no longer ignore this unacceptable behavior.”
Roumelioti, 25, went on to note that social media users “do not know” her or details about her “personal life beyond who my partner is.”
“Following someone’s life does not give you the right to spread lies, making cruel comments or tear another woman down,” she continued. “The level of hatred directed towards women online is deeply disturbing. Words have consequences and while I am fortunate to have the strength and support to cope with this, that does not make such behavior harmless.”
She added, “Treatment like this can have a devastating effect on someone’s mental health.”
Roumelioti concluded her note by sharing that she’s “proud of the woman” she is today.
“I will not allow strangers on the internet to define me or disturb my peace,” she wrote. “I genuinely hope that those who dedicate so much of their time to spreading negativity eventually find peace themselves.”

Shortly after Roumelioti spoke out, Newton, 33, shared his own statement to encourage kindness online.
“A little reminder,” he wrote on Instagram Stories Sept. 5. “Be kind or simply click not interested. Don’t waste your time spreading hate. One day you’ll look back and wonder what it was all for.”
Although the couple—who went Instagram official in May 2025—have kept details of their romance relatively private, the Netflix star previously shared insight into his mindset after how quickly he rose to fame once Bridgerton was released.
“I was finding it really overwhelming,” he told WWD in 2024. “I had a moment in Australia where I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m getting in a good place with this and starting to really enjoy it and not feeling too overwhelmed by it all.’ Then it was the premiere and I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m not at all.’”
