The Toronto Blue Jays made a trade earlier this season to find an infielder, but it didn’t work.

So they’ve already re-routed Tyler Fitzgerald from the San Francisco Giants, where he started the year, to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
For those keeping score at home, it’s a trip to Canada before heading back out to California and the NL West Division for Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald never actually got into a game for the Blue Jays before they sent him down to Triple-A Buffalo. They traded for Lenyn Sosa instead, and he’s gotten time in the MLB infield, but not Fitzgerald.
So now the Dodgers have decided to take a chance on a guy they’ve seen plenty of with their rival.

Fitzgerald made a short MLB debut for the Giants in 2023, but it was in 2024 where he really showed his promise. That season, he batted .280 with 19 doubles, 15 homers, 17 steals and an .831 OPS.
He regressed to .217 average and .606 OPS in 2025, and that contributed to his eventual sending away from the Giants.
With how things seem to work these days for the Dodgers, Fitzgerald might find his game again and eventually take it out on the Giants.
But for now, all that’s for sure is that Fitzgerald won’t be helping the Blue Jays at all.
