The Toronto Blue Jays haven’t been able to catch a break all season and they got even more negative news on Tuesday.
The Blue Jays have dealt with pitching injuries all season to this point and the rotation took yet another hit. 23-year-old righty Trey Yesavage is now on the shelf after undergoing surgery to repair his left meniscus. MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson reported that there is hope Yesavage could return this season, but it isn’t guaranteed.

“News: Trey Yesavage had surgery to repair his left meniscus,” Matheson wrote. “The Blue Jays are not ruling him out for the year, and will evaluate him over the next few weeks. It will obviously depend on how competitive they are down the stretch, too,” Matheson wrote.
Yesavage has been very solid for the Blue Jays throughout the 2026 season.
The righty has made 18 starts and has a 3.65 ERA and 2.1 wins above replacement in 93 2/3 innings pitched.
Yesavage made his big league debut down the stretch last season and entered the 2026 season with the expectation that he could be the top overall rookie in the American League and help carry the Blue Jays’ rotation back to the playoffs. Unfortunately, that just hasn’t been the case. He has been good, but the Blue Jays haven’t been able to get anything going.
Now, they will miss their young start for a bit.
