Watch: Blake Lively Makes First Public Appearance After Missing Taylor Swift’s Wedding
Blake Lively is keeping her eye on the ball.
The Gossip Girl alum stepped out at the 2026 World Cup Final July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, weeks after skipping out on longtime friend Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce.
In a photo uploaded to her Instagram Stories July 19, Lively was all smiles as she posed for a selfie with friends.
For the occasion, the 38-year-old repped Argentina—who lost 0-1 to Spain in the nail-biting match—donning blue jeans and a white tank top, which she pared with a blue and white striped button up, the colors of Argentina’s flag.
To top off her game day look, the Age of Adeline star wore layered blue necklaces and matching sunglasses.
She attended the epic match with Kendall Glazer, Libby Glazer and Emma Gray.
Lively’s outing serves as her first public appearance since her and husband Ryan Reynolds‘ noticeable absence from Swift and Kelce’s July 3 nuptials at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where the couple hosted 1,000 attendees.
Considering Swift noted that her ceremony would be “huge” during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show last October, adding that she’d be inviting “anyone I’ve ever talked to,” Lively and Reynolds’ absence came as a shock to fans.
However, fans began to speculate the A Simple Favor actress and “Style” hitmaker’s friendship had become strained after text messages between the two in December 2024 were unsealed as part of Lively’s court case against Justin Baldoni.

Swift—who is godmother to Lively and Reynolds’ 4 kids—wrote to Blake at the time, “It feels awful to be in any way critical of any way you process what you’ve been going through but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself.”
Though Lively and Reynolds were no-shows at Swift and Kelce’s massive wedding, there wasn’t another blank space in the house as stars like Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Zoë Kravitz came together to witness their vows in a ceremony officiated by Adam Sandler.
The bride and groom, who both wore custom Christian Dior for their white veil occasion, opted not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen. Instead, Swift’s younger brother Austin Swift served as her Man of Honor, while Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce stood in as his Best Man.

Though they have yet to share their own photos from the big day, many of their guests have spoken out about what made the event so enchanting.
“The ceremony was great, moving. Adam Sandler, funny and touching,” Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos shared in a statement to ABC News July 4. “Vows, everything you would hope for, real, vulnerable, serious and silly. Deeply loving. Who knew that a wedding in Madison Square Garden could be so intimate?”
