The Chicago Bears secured a thrilling 30-24 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football, but the mood inside Soldier Field remained heavy after the final whistle. Veteran tight end Cole Kmet suffered a potentially serious knee injury during the contest, leaving his teammates and fanbase holding their breath.

Kmet was carted off the field during the second half after collapsing in obvious pain, immediately drawing deep concern from players on both sidelines. Before his sudden departure, Kmet continued serving as a reliable target in Chicago’s passing attack. Quarterback Caleb Williams delivered a brilliant performance overall, completing 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns to guide Chicago to victory. However, those impressive numbers mattered very little to Williams after watching one of his closest offensive teammates go down.
Speaking with reporters in the postgame locker room, an emotional Williams poured his heart out when asked about Kmet’s massive impact on his personal growth and the team’s culture.

“Cole’s been there for me every step of the way, through the first year, through the second year, and now through this year,” Williams said. “I don’t have the words to describe what Cole is to me, what Cole is to this team. I’ll be right there with him through every step of whatever the injury is.”
