Man injured in Maple Ridge shooting

One man is in critical condition after he was shot inside a vehicle in Maple Ridge on Tuesday night.

RCMP said calls came in at about 10 p.m. about shots being fired in the 11400-block of 236 Street.

A 56-year-old man inside a vehicle had what appeared to be a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital in critical condition, according to RCMP.

Mounties have released very little information but have confirmed the shooting was targeted.

Man arrested in connection to 2025 Granville Street murder

A man has been arrested in connection to a stabbing death on Granville Street last year.

The stabbing took place on Nov. 17, 2025 in the area of Granville and Helmcken streets.

The victim was taken to hospital but did not survive. He was later identified as Aymen Al-Hafidh, 20.

On Wednesday, Vancouver police announced James Christopher Holmgren, 35, had been charged with second-degree murder into he stabbing death.

Holmgren was arrested on Tuesday and remains in custody.

Teen charged for threatening to burn down Port Coquitlam home

A teen has been charged with mischief, uttering threats, and breaching a disposition order after police allege he threatened to set fire to a Port Coquitlam home.

Coquitlam RCMP said the threats were made back in May.

“This isolated incident involved alleged threats to burn down a residence in a highly populated Port Coquitlam neighbourhood. Coquitlam RCMP strive to ensure that our citizens and neighbourhoods are safe,” said Cpl. John Graham.

Earlier this month, prosecutors approved three counts against the teen, who can’t be named publicly as the individual is underage. The charges include mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats under the Criminal Code, and a breach of a disposition order under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen, who does not live in the Tri-Cities area, has been released from custody and must abide by a number of court-ordered conditions.

Woman pleads guilty to string of New West thefts

A woman arrested for a string of thefts across New West has pled guilty and is facing multiple years in jail.

Lindsay Ellis, 38, pled guilty in late July after 16 charges had been approved, including break and enter, theft of mail, theft, possession of break in instruments, identify theft, possessing identity documents, possession of credit cards, possession of stolen property, and possession of forged documents.

She was sentenced to 2½ years in jail.

The New Westminster Police Department had been investigating multiple break and enters in January before executing a search warrant on a home in Burnaby where Ellis was arrested.
