Man charged in Langley shooting

Mounties are investigating a Langley shooting that left one person injured.

Langley RCMP said it received reports of a shooting in the 26900-block 26A Avenue just before 7:25 p.m. on Monday.

First responders rushed to the scene and found a person injured. The victim was taken to hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

Police later arrested a suspect who had fled the area, but was spotted driving erratically near 256 Street and 24 Avenue.

Kyle Jensen, 40, faces several charges including break and enter, robbery, firearm-related offences, and theft of a motor vehicle. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

RCMP said the shooting was an isolated incident and that the motive is still under investigation.

E-scooter rider hit in face with hammer in East Vancouver, police say

Vancouver police are looking for a man who allegedly struck an e-scooter rider with a hammer.

Police said the victim was riding an e-scooter near Gladstone Street and Vanness Avenue in East Vancouver at around 10:30 p.m. Monday when he was approached from behind by a man riding a silver bicycle and hit in the face with a hammer.

The attacker is described as white, in his late 40s, with a grey buzz cut and facial stubble. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black pants, and black shoes.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Megan Lui said police also received a report from a second person who say he was threatened with a hammer by a man with the same description. No assault took place in that incident.

Surrey man charged in metal-rod attack on security guard

A Surrey man has been charged after a security guard was assaulted in a Vancouver parkade with a metal rod.

The assault occurred around 4:15 a.m. Saturday when an on-duty security guard patrolling a parkade near Cambie and Dunsmuir streets came across a man sleeping inside the parkade, said Vancouver police.

When asked to leave, the man swung a short metal rod at the guard, damaging the vehicle, police allege The man then chased after the guard on a bicycle.

Minutes later, a police officer found a man matching the description of a suspect in a separate parkade, near Cambie and West Georgia streets.

Clifford Carreon, a 41-year-old Surrey man, is facing charges of assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000. He remains in jail awaiting a bail hearing. He is expected back in court next Monday at Vancouver’s downtown community court.
