Police in Surrey are appealing for information about a person who sexually assaulted a teen girl on Saturday afternoon in the Clayton Heights neighbourhood.

Surrey police said the stranger sexual assault happened at about 4:30 p.m. near 188th Street and 70th Avenue.

The attacker approached the teenage victim from behind and assaulted her. She was able to run to safety.

The attacker was described as black, about 20 years old, about 6-foot-1 or 6-foot-2, with a medium build. He had short, curly black hair, a short black beard covering the sides, chin and mouth, and was wearing a black T-shirt and dark pants.

The attacker was last seen walking north on 188th Street.
