For the first time, the story of every ATP World No. 1 is brought together in a new four-part series
The series is produced by BrightNorth USA, in association with the ATP, ATP Media and Front Office Sports Studios
LONDON – The ATP has launched ACES: The ATP No. 1 Club, a new four-part docuseries offering an inside look at the players who have reached the very top of men’s professional tennis.
Only 29 men in history have reached the ATP World No. 1 ranking. For the first time, ACES: The ATP No. 1 Club brings their stories together, taking audiences inside the moments, rivalries and defining decisions that shaped their journeys.
Premiering today on Prime Video in the United States and Channel 5 in the United Kingdom on 29 June, the series will roll out internationally across leading broadcasters and streaming platforms in the coming months.
Featuring exclusive interviews and rare access, the series spans generations of champions, including: John McEnroe, Borg Borg and Jimmy Connors to Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic to current stars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, offering a unique perspective on what it takes to join one of the most exclusive clubs in sport.
Across four episodes, the series combines archive footage with present day, behind the scenes access, revealing the realities of striving to reach World No. 1 and the challenge of staying there.
Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman, said: “Reaching World No. 1 is the ultimate achievement in our sport, and having experienced life on Tour I understand how much that journey demands. Only a small group of players have lived it. By bringing these stories to a global audience, this series gives fans a deeper understanding of what it takes to reach the top. It also helps us showcase the sport at its best, celebrate its greatest champions and connect new fans with the players and moments that have defined the game.”
Pat Dimon, the Emmy Award-winning director of ACES: The ATP No. 1 Club, said: “It was a privilege and lifelong dream to meet and chat with so many of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport to tell the story of how they achieved an honor that only 29 men have ever accomplished, the ATP No. 1 ranking. Hearing from these compelling athletes about their fiercest rivalries and historic matches, viewers will get a first-person account of their mental and physical journey to the top and the battle to stay there.”
The series is produced by BrightNorth USA, in association with the ATP, ATP Media and Front Office Sports Studios and directed by Pat Dimon. The docuseries is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution and broadcasters and streaming platforms airing it include:
- Prime Video (United States)
- 5 (United Kingdom)
- Bell Media (Canada)
- SkyShowtime (across Europe)
- Now TV Hong Kong (Hong Kong, Macau)
- JioHotstar (JioStar India)
The docuseries forms part of the ATP No. 1 Club, launched in 2024 by the ATP to celebrate and promote one of the most exclusive achievements in sport. Alongside the new series, the ATP has partnered with leading global publisher Phaidon to create the premium book ATP No. 1 Club: Icons of Men’s Tennis, launching later this year, and profiling all 29 World No. 1 players through archival imagery and in-depth storytelling.
