Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concern over a disturbing video of Ahmed Zakka, who was reportedly kidnapped alongside his wife and their baby in Kaduna State.

Atiku described the video as heartbreaking, saying it reflected the security challenges facing Nigeria.
“It is unfortunate that a Nigerian has been reduced to begging for his life and pleading for his family to be spared in the hands of kidnappers. The situation is even more disturbing considering that a helpless infant, who cannot speak or see the world for themselves, is also caught up in this ordeal,” he said.

He called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue Zakka, his wife and their baby safely and without delay. He also urged the authorities to secure the release of other Nigerians being held by kidnappers.
“It is imperative for the government to take measures that will bring this problem to an end, so that Nigerians can live in their homes and go about their daily activities without the fear of being kidnapped,” Atiku said in a post on his Hausa-language Facebook page.

“Protecting the lives and property of Nigerians is a major responsibility of the government,” he added.
He prayed for the safe release of Ahmed Zakka and his family, as well as all other people held by kidnappers.
