The Houston Astros‘ turnaround may have already begun with a 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.

But it’s worth noting that before that, the Astros were making some improbable baseball history.
Through April 13, the Astros had the worst record in MLB at 6-11.
They had also scored the most runs in the league.

Clearly, the bottom half of that above graphic shows the problem — the Astros had allowed the most runs in the league, too, more than they had scored.
It’s still an incredibly rare feat. Teams that score the most runs in the league rarely have issues.
It hadn’t happened at all since the 1953 Detroit Tigers:
If anything, the Astros’ win on Tuesday night really sums this up. They gave up six runs to the lowly Rockies.

But because it’s what they do, Houston scored a lot, too — in this case seven runs, just enough to prevail.
