Danielle Collins was doing media work for Tennis Channel early in the year. She explained her absence as recuperating from injury and undergoing fertility (egg freezing) procedures. At the time, she said her absence was limited to the early part of the year.
Collins previously said that she was retiring after the 2024 season. After a stellar season and a change in life plans, she returned in 2025. Collins seemed a bit uncomfortable with the attention associated with her 2024 retirement announcement.
