The Boston Red Sox drafted Blaze Jordan in 2020, but he never played a game for them in the big leagues.

The Red Sox traded Jordan to the St. Louis Cardinals for Steven Matz. Matz is now with the Tampa Bay Rays, and Jordan is eight games into his big league career with the Cardinals. Through eight games, he is looking like a real difference maker on a team looking to make the postseason.
With Ramón Urías on the 60-day injured list, the Cardinals turned to Jordan. He is the No. 25 prospect in their organization and was once a top ten prospect for the Red Sox. Through eight games in his MLB career, he has a .300/.323/.533 slash line. Four of his nine hits have gone for extra bases and he already has seven RBIs.
Jordan plays third base and first base, so his path to the big leagues with the Red Sox was blocked. It made sense as to why the Red Sox dealt him, but he is looking to be yet another former Red Sox player thriving elsewhere.
The Cardinals are currently in position to be the top wild-card team in the National League, but there is still a long way to go. Jordan, a righty, has just nine plate appearances against southpaws and just a .222 average. He has played seven games in the hot corner and one at first base for the Cardinals so far. Defensively, he already has a plus-two outs above average.
