Less than 24 hours after announcing he was calling it quits and receiving social-media tributes from several MLB franchises, Taylor changed his mind and returned to professional baseball.
One of the MLB’s top utility players throughout his 12-year career, Taylor on Saturday was assigned to Triple-A Salt Lake‘s injured list with a broken forearm.
In 132 plate appearances with the Angels this season, Taylor slashed .255/.382/.321.
Still revered by Los Angeles Dodgers‘ fans for his walk-off home run in the 2021 NL Wild Card Game, Taylor earned two World Series titles with the Dodgers (2020 and ’24). He spent 10 seasons with the organization.

A 2012 fifth-round draft pick by the Seattle Mariners, Taylor was traded to the Dodgers in ’16, appearing in the All-Star Game five seasons later.
Taylor joined the Angels last season and appeared in 30 games, but hit just .179.
Known as a clutch playoff performer, Taylor collected nine homers and 26 RBI in eight postseason tripls. In the 2017 NLCS, he hit .316 with a 1.248 OPS, sharing MVP honors with former teammate Justin Turner.
