Watch: Amy Schumer Shares “Thirsty” Swimsuit Selfie After Chris Fischer Breakup
Amy Schumeris a girl’s girl, through and through.
After discovering that there was an ongoing shortage of HRT estrogen patches—which are used to treat menopause symptoms—the Trainwreck star turned to Instagram to spread the word.
“Hi, I wanted to come on and make sure that other women my age have this information,” Amy shared in an Instagram video on April 18. “There’s a shortage on HRT estrogen patches, and it’s real.”
The 44-year-old then offered some alternative options to women who rely on the patches, which deliver a steady supply of estrogen through the skin.
“A good thing to do would be to get a three-month prescription from your doctor right now,” she said, “to look into alternative kinds of estrogen—not just patches—with gels, try different brands, and warn other women, because it’s real.”
In response to her video, many of Amy’s female followers expressed their gratitude for her PSA—including Lisa Rinna.
“Thank you for sharing this!” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 62, wrote in the comments section. “I wondered why my patch was a different brand sent by my pharmacy today!”
The Millionaire Matchmaker alum Patti Stanger and RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage also weighed in—and both women were in agreement about the alternate solution they liked best.
“Also as an option ask your doc about compounded cream,” Michelle, 57, commented, while Patti, 64, added, “Ask for your doctor to prescribe the cream, it’s the best! A compound pharmacy make[s] it!”

It’s no surprise that Amy would be such an advocate for women’s health. After all, she’s experienced several health issues through the years, which she has openly spoken about on social media.
In 2021, the comedian—who shares son Gene, 6, with ex Chris Fischer—shared that she underwent a hysterectomy to treat her endometriosis, a reproductive disease in which abnormal tissue grows outside the uterus.
Nearly three years later, Amy was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a hormonal disorder caused by prolonged exposure to steroids. As it turned out, the diagnosis was made after she received tons of comments from her social media followers—particularly from doctors—about her “puffier” face and she decided to seriously look into it.
“Thank God for that,” the Life & Beth actress wrote in a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter. “Because that’s how I realized something was wrong.”

And, most recently in December, Amy detailed the impact of her Cushing syndrome diagnosis, saying that it was what prompted her to lose weight.
“I didn’t lose 30lbs, I lost 50. Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary,” she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “I did it to survive. I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy and can kill you but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared.”
Amy isn’t the only star who has gotten candid about health issues. Keep reading for more stars who have openly discussed their medical journeys…
