An FBI-led international hunt ended inside a Phuket hotel on Saturday as Thai police captured wanted American Lance Michael Beck. The 48-year-old faces seven Alabama warrants and one federal warrant over sexual crimes against children under 14. The charges include sexual torture, rape, human trafficking, sexual abuse and incest. Investigators also accuse Beck of filming the abuse before fleeing to Thailand. Within 48 hours of the FBI request, officers traced him through Phuket airport records to Nai Yang Beach. Immigration officers immediately revoked his stay and transferred him to Bangkok. He now faces rapid deportation, a faster route than formal extradition, before answering the eight warrants in America.
Thai police have captured an American wanted on eight United States warrants for sexual crimes against children. Lance Michael Beck, 48, was arrested inside a Phuket hotel at 2.15 pm on Saturday. His charges include sexual torture, rape, human trafficking, sexual abuse and incest.
In addition, Beck faces a charge involving a child’s travel for unlawful sexual activity. Investigators say the victims were children under 14. They also accuse Beck of filming the abuse before fleeing the United States for Thailand.
The FBI launched the Thai end of the hunt on Thursday, August 27. It asked the Royal Thai Police to investigate Beck’s movements and locate him. Within 48 hours, a combined force had found and arrested him.
FBI tracks Beck through Phuket airport records before armed teams close in on his Nai Yang hotel
In response, Thai investigators checked how Beck entered the kingdom. Immigration records showed that he arrived through Phuket International Airport. Officers then followed his movements into Sakhu subdistrict in northern Phuket.
From there, the trail led towards Nai Yang Beach. Beck was staying at a hotel near the airport he had used to enter Thailand. Police confirmed his location before assembling an arrest team.
Meanwhile, officers from several agencies joined the operation. The team included investigators from Bangkok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau. Immigration Division 3 and Sakhu Police Station supplied additional officers.
In parallel, the FBI’s Bangkok office coordinated with the Thai teams. FBI Bangkok Law Enforcement Attaché Benjamin Vitue reportedly helped direct the cooperation. Assistant Law Enforcement Attaché Nicholas Vicencia was also linked to the operation.
By Saturday afternoon, police were ready to move. Officers entered the hotel at approximately 2.15 pm and found Beck inside. They confronted him with the information supplied by American investigators.
Beck admits his identity as immigration officers cancel his stay and prepare rapid US deportation
At that point, Beck acknowledged that he was the man named in the warrants. Police reported no resistance, chase or confrontation. The international manhunt had ended inside a hotel near Nai Yang Beach.
Immediately afterwards, immigration officers revoked Beck’s permission to remain in Thailand. They removed him from Phuket and transferred him to Bangkok. He was then placed inside the Immigration Detention Centre.
As a result, Beck is now being held while officials arrange his return to America. Thai officials have not announced his departure date. They have confirmed that he will be sent back to face the warrants.
Crucially, deportation offers a faster route than waiting for a formal American extradition request. Formal extradition can involve court hearings, supporting documents and legal challenges. Immigration removal can proceed after Thailand revokes a foreigner’s permission to stay.
By contrast, Beck’s immigration permission has already been cancelled. Thai officers can therefore process his removal without completing a full extradition case first. No Thai criminal charge has been announced against him.
For now, Beck remains inside the Bangkok immigration detention system. American officials are making arrangements to receive him. Neither country has identified the officers expected to escort or receive him.
American faces seven Alabama warrants and a federal case over torture and sexual crimes against children
Separately, Thai officials have not said whether Beck intends to challenge deportation. They have also not disclosed whether American prosecutors submitted formal extradition documents. Nevertheless, the immediate removal process is already underway through immigration channels.
Upon his return, Beck is expected to enter United States custody. He will then face proceedings linked to the state and federal warrants. The order of those court appearances has not been announced.
The case against Beck stretches across two levels of the American justice system. Seven warrants were issued at the state level in Alabama. An eighth warrant was issued at the federal level.
Notably, sexual torture stands among the charges listed by Thai police. Beck is also wanted for rape, human trafficking, sexual abuse and incest. Another charge covers facilitating a child’s travel for illegal sexual activity.
Beyond that, investigators accuse Beck of recording the abuse. Police say the crimes involved children younger than 14. They further state that he fled America before travelling to Thailand.
Victims remain unidentified as US agencies withhold warrant details, locations and federal charges
At present, officials have not identified the number of children involved. Their precise ages, sexes and relationships to Beck remain confidential. Police have described them only as children under 14.
On another front, the dates and locations of the crimes remain undisclosed. American agencies have not named the Alabama county handling the seven state warrants. They have also withheld the warrant numbers and filing dates.
Likewise, the federal court responsible for the eighth warrant has not been identified. No federal indictment or criminal complaint has appeared publicly. The exact federal statute behind that warrant therefore remains unavailable.
Even so, the known accusations are direct and extensive. They cover sexual torture, rape, human trafficking, sexual abuse and incest. They also include facilitating travel involving a child for an unlawful sexual act.
As part of this, investigators accuse Beck of creating video recordings of the abuse. American officials have not said how those recordings were discovered. They have also not revealed whether the material was recovered before Beck fled.
No Thai victims or seized devices reported as Beck’s airport trail ends inside his Phuket hotel room
Elsewhere, Thai police have reported no seizure of computers or telephones from the Phuket hotel. They have announced no recovery of digital storage equipment. No search results from Beck’s room have been released.
Significantly, police have reported no victims in Thailand. They have announced no offence committed by Beck inside the kingdom. His arrest arose from the eight American warrants and the FBI request.
Accordingly, Thai officers acted through immigration powers after establishing Beck’s identity. They cancelled his permission to remain and transferred him to Bangkok. That route positioned him for rapid removal rather than a prolonged stay in Phuket custody.
Before the arrest, investigators reconstructed Beck’s entry through Phuket International Airport. They then tracked him into the surrounding Sakhu area. The trail ended only a short distance from the airport.
During the operation, police found Beck inside his hotel rather than at a transport terminal. No onward airline booking has been disclosed. Officers have not said whether he was preparing to leave Phuket.
Still, his location near the airport gave investigators a tight search area. Immigration information established his point of entry. Local police work then identified his accommodation near Nai Yang Beach.
Combined FBI and Thai force captures Beck within 48 hours as questions remain over his Phuket stay
Once confirmed, the combined force moved quickly. Metropolitan Police investigators brought central investigative support. Immigration Division 3 supplied the legal mechanism for cancelling his stay.
At the same time, Sakhu Police Station provided officers familiar with the area. The FBI’s Bangkok office supplied the American warrant information. Together, the teams completed the operation two days after the request arrived.
Despite the swift arrest, Beck’s length of stay in Thailand remains unknown. Officials have not released his arrival date. They have also withheld his immigration category and intended departure date.
Furthermore, no information has emerged about Beck’s activities while staying in Phuket. Police have not named the hotel. They have released no details about bookings, payments or companions.
The spelling of his surname initially created confusion across English-language reports. One report identified him as Lance Michael “Bec”. The original Royal Thai Police announcement supports “Beck”.
Public records point towards northeastern Alabama, but police withhold Beck’s full background details
Neither the FBI nor Thai police has published his passport. Yet both sides identify him as a 48-year-old American.
Public-record databases list a Lance Michael Beck of the same age in northeastern Alabama. Those entries connect the name with Steele and Gadsden. They also give a December 1977 birth date.
That birth date matches the reported age in August 2026. However, neither police force has confirmed Beck’s exact date of birth. His American hometown and passport details also remain undisclosed.
Consequently, the northeastern Alabama records cannot be definitively tied to the arrested man. They provide a possible background match, but not official confirmation. Police have released no family, employment or education details.
Geographically, Steele lies inside St Clair County in northeastern Alabama. Nearby Gadsden is the county seat of Etowah County. No official announcement links Beck’s warrants with either jurisdiction.
So far, publicly indexed local reports contain no confirmed case under Beck’s name. The underlying state warrant documents have also remained outside published reports.
Eight active US warrants drove the Phuket operation despite no public FBI poster or federal case file
Similarly, the FBI has issued no readily available wanted poster carrying Beck’s name. The United States Department of Justice has released no detailed public statement. No American agency has yet published the complete federal case.
Nonetheless, the FBI directly asked Thai police to locate Beck. The Royal Thai Police confirmed receiving that request on August 27. Two days later, officers found him in Thalang district.
More importantly, Thai police confirmed the existence of all eight American warrants. They identified seven as Alabama state warrants. They identified the remaining warrant as federal.
The arrest was therefore based on active American warrants, not an informal inquiry. Beck was the named target of a coordinated international operation. FBI personnel worked with three Thai police components to locate him.
For its part, the Metropolitan Police Bureau supplied investigators from Bangkok. Immigration Division 3 helped trace Beck and cancel his stay. Sakhu police joined the final hotel operation.
Sexual torture and child rape charges await Beck as Thailand pursues the faster deportation route
At the centre of the case sits the charge of sexual torture. The remaining charges include rape, human trafficking, sexual abuse and incest. Facilitating a child’s travel for illegal sexual activity adds another major count.
Alongside those charges, investigators accuse Beck of filming the abuse. The reported victims were under 14. Police say Beck then fled the United States and travelled to Thailand.
After the arrest, immigration officers acted without delay. Beck’s permission to stay was revoked at once. He was then moved hundreds of kilometres from Phuket to the Bangkok detention centre.

Once back, Beck is expected to answer the federal warrant and seven Alabama warrants. State and federal proceedings may follow separate schedules. No court has yet published those schedules.
