Alek Manoah once looked like he’d be a standout starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays for a long time.

These days, though, he can’t even get many outs at Triple-A.
Manoah is in the Angels organization, but he couldn’t stick at the MLB level, so he’s down at Triple-A Salt Lake.
His last four starts have gone like this:

At some point along the way, Manoah stopped getting outs. It seems like that ability isn’t coming back.
Manoah had a 2.24 ERA in 31 starts with the Blue Jays in 2022 (after 3.22 ERA in 20 starts as a rookie) and made the All-Star Game.
Then in 2023, he fell down to a 5.87 ERA in 19 starts with Toronto.

Manoah was a bit better in 2024 with a 3.70 ERA in five starts, but injuries and ineffectiveness kept him away from the majors in 2025.
The Angels gave Manoah three outings early this year, but he had a 9.82 ERA.
It would be a surprise if Manoah ever makes it back to the major leagues at this point, unless something drastic changes.
He’s still just 28, so never say never. But the downfall for Manoah has been steep, drastic and persistent.
