An Alberta man has been charged in a Langley double homicide that unfolded last month.

The deaths were reported to Langley RCMP on April 27 just after 11 a.m., in a home in the 21000 block of 16 Avenue.

On Monday, police said the deaths were that of an 18-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man. Police confirmed the two victims lived together at the home but would not disclose details of their connection or their identities.

“This was a tragic incident and our hearts break for the victims’ families as they grieve the sudden loss of their loved ones,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. “Our thoughts are with them as well as the first responders and support workers who responded to this call.”

Fong also said a suspect had been arrested on Sunday and has been charged.

“Through teamwork and persistence, IHIT investigators gathered the evidence needed to secure charges, which we hope will support the healing of those impacted,” Fong said in a statement.

The suspect had no priority interactions with B.C. police, but investigators believe he knew the victims.

Lafferty-Tuccaro remains in custody and will next appear in court on May 11.
