For the first time in the Rob Vaughn era, Alabama baseball will host a NCAA Tournament regional in Tuscaloosa.
Revealed on Monday afternoon, Alabama is the No. 7 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, and as a result, will host the Tuscaloosa Regional this weekend, the first time postseason baseball will be played inside of Sewell-Thomas Stadium since 2023. The Crimson Tide were previously announced as a regional host site Sunday night prior to the bracket reveal Monday.

Joining the Crimson Tide this weekend will be Oklahoma State, USC Upstate, and Alabama State. The Crimson Tide’s first game of the Tuscaloosa Regional will be played Friday at 7 p.m. ET against Alabama State.
In addition to receiving the No. 7 overall seed, Alabama will also potentially host a super regional in Tuscaloosa, should they advance past this weekend’s regional. Should that happen, it would mark the first time Alabama has hosted a super regional since 2006.
During a potential Tuscaloosa Super Regional, Alabama would be matched up with whoever advances from the Tallahassee Regional, which features No. 10 overall seed Florida State, Coastal Carolina, Northern Illinois and St. John’s.
The Crimson Tide have not made it to the College World Series since 1999, but could have an excellent chance this season to break that drought, especially with Alabama’s potential run to Omaha going solely through Tuscaloosa.
