After entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason, former Alabama Crimson Tide infielder Jon Young Jr. has announced a commitment to the Charlotte 49ers.
Young, who recently concluded his sophomore season in Tuscaloosa, will have three years of eligibility remaining.

A former member of Alabama’s 2024 recruiting class, Young spent two seasons at Alabama where he appeared in 14 games for the Crimson Tide, four of which he started. The infielder slashed .136/.208/.136 over that span, going 3-for-22 offensively with three runs scored.
Each of those 14 appearances came during the 2025 season as a freshman. Young did not see playing time during the 2026 campaign.
The infielder was one-of-two Alabama players to enter the transfer portal following the Crimson Tide’s CWS run. Austin Morris, a right-handed pitcher, previously committed to Coastal Carolina.
