Watch: Aaron Rodgers Says There Was “Zero Intimacy” in Yearslong Danica Patrick Relationship
Aaron Rodgers had a lot of yards to cover when it came to burying the hatchet with his family.
Ten years after the Pittsburgh Steelers player’s brother Jordan Rodgers revealed he didn’t have “much” of a relationship with him during an appearance on The Bachelorette, the NFL star shared how they managed to come back together.
“There was some stuff there,” Aaron detailed during a Sept. 10 appearance on the Not Just Football podcast, “and I could tell I was coming to a time where I needed to make it right.”
The New York Jets alum shared that his parents Ed Rodgers and Darla Rodgers’ recent move to Nashville sparked him reevaluating his relationship with them, as well as his younger brother and older brother Luke Rodgers.
“I went to Nashville and met up with my older brother, and a couple weeks after that, met up with my little brother,” the 42-year-old explained. “It was cool. There were tough conversations for sure, but I’m just in a much better headspace.”
And since repairing the relationships with his family, he emphasized that “it’s been great to have all those people” back in his life. As he put it, “That’s been really, really special.”
Meanwhile, Aaron credits his wife Brittani—whom he announced he had married in 2025—with getting him to a place where he could reconnect to his nuclear family.
“She was a big part of that,” he said. “Not that she was pushing anything, she wasn’t. It was more of when you’re loved by someone in such an unconditional way, it changes your perspective on all your relationships surrounding that. It becomes your anchor point.”

Indeed, the Super Bowl XLV MVP believes a reconciliation never would have occurred without his wife in his life.
“It opens up your heart in a really deeper way,” he explained. “A year ago, two years ago, five years ago for sure, I would’ve said, ‘No, I’m never going to reconcile. It’s just not going to happen. It’s not in the cards. I’m not ready for that. Don’t think I ever will be.’ It was really built in judgment, ego and judgment. And ego and judgment get in the way of basically any progress or evolution possible so I had to really put those aside.”
As for why Aaron hadn’t spoken much about his family until his Netflix documentary in 2024? He didn’t want to add fuel to the press fire against him.
“Another thing people hit me with all the time is, ‘He’s such a f–king a–hole even his family hates him,’” he added. “Nobody knew what was going on with it. I decided that I didn’t want to play this out in the media because I didn’t think that was right.”
Although Aaron acknowledged that some shots were fired at him publicly by his family—either intentionally or unintentionally—he doesn’t hold it against them anymore.
“They didn’t know what it would be like to have a son who was super famous,” he continued. “I didn’t know what it would be like after the Super Bowl to be super famous in the way that I was and how that changes relationships. The relationships dissolve. Now, full circle, they’re back together.”
