The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has asked the Federal Government to tell Nigerians what the country stands to gain from the $700 billion mineral deal with the United States.
The National Publicity Secretary of the forum, Professor Tukur Mohammed-Baba, made this call during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday.
Mohammed-Baba said the government needed to be transparent about the details of the deal.
“The government needs to tell Nigerians what we are getting into with this deal,” he said.
He added that Nigerians deserved to know the terms, benefits, and implications of such a huge mineral agreement.
According to him, a $700 billion deal was too big to be shrouded in secrecy, especially at a time when Nigerians were facing economic hardship.
DAILY POST recalls that Nigeria signed a critical minerals framework with the United States on September 23, 2026 at the Nigeria House in New York, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Mohammed-Baba urged the Tinubu administration to make the full details of the agreement public to avoid suspicion and mistrust.
He maintained that the Arewa Consultative Forum would continue to speak up for transparency and accountability in governance.
