On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers put out its first official depth chart of the season. Pittsburgh is setting up to take on the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday and we found four big surprises on the depth chart for this new-look Steelers team under head coach Mike McCarthy.
The Steelers listed two positions with an “or” signifying co-starters but running back isn’t one of them. Jaylen Warren is listed at the No. 1 running back on his own, with Rico Dowdle as the backup.

Few players had a better offseason than wide receiver Roman Wilson and he was rewarded for his hard word and development by beating out rookie Germie Bernard for the starting spot at slot receiver.
Head coach Mike McCarthy was careful to hedge his bets about whether or Joey Porter Jr. would be playing by listing him or Asante Samuel Jr. as the starting cornerback. This definitely tells us that McCarthy isn’t convinced Porter is willing to play on his rookie contract.
With the injury to DeShon Elliott, the Steelers only list a single safety on the depth chart. The note here is Jalen Ramsey listed as the nickel cornerback. He was dominant at safety so he will likely be the de facto starting safety and we look for a big dose of Brandin Echols as the No. 3 cornerback.
