Torquay United manager Jimmy Ball says there were “too many average performances” as his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Oxford City.
The Gulls were beaten 1-0 at Plainmoor by the National League North side as they missed out on a first round tie for a fourth successive season.

Deon Moore had a first-half strike ruled out for offside before Scott Pollock scored what proved to be the decisive goal six minutes into the second half.
The Gulls had a penalty appeal turned down 10 minutes later when the ball appeared to hit the arm of a defender in the box.
“I think their midfield passed the ball better and ran all over ours really and I think their attacking unit had one chance really and took it, whereas we didn’t,” Ball told BBC Radio Devon.
“All the way through just too many too many average performances in a big game and you end up getting done.
“Deon’s disallowed goal, I’ve watched it back five or six times and I can’t tell. It is so close. I thought the advantage went to the attacking team, but obviously not today.

“I think there’s a handball in the second half, I really do, but I feel like I’m making excuses.
“The truth is I’m gutted for the fans, I wanted to give them something to be excited about.
“I’m gutted for the club because it helps massively, but I think there were too many average performances.”
