The African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday declared that his party will not allow what happened during the 2023 presidential election to repeat itself in 2027.

Speaking during the ADC’s presidential campaign rally in Sokoto State, Atiku urged Nigerians to ensure that their votes are protected and counted in 2027.

He also berated the state government over attempts to prevent the ADC from holding its presidential campaign flag-off.

According to Atiku: “I extend our sincere appreciation to the party’s leadership in Sokoto State for making it possible for us to commence our presidential campaign in Sokoto. The ruling party in Sokoto did not want this event to hold but you made it possible, so we want to thank you for that.

“I appeal to all our supporters to come out and vote massively and protect their votes. Some of our promises to Nigerians are to ensure that security is restored in every part of this country, we will ensure that our borders with our neighbours are opened for legitimate trade because we are all brothers and sisters.

“I will return fuel subsidy, and I appeal to everyone to vote, protect your votes, make sure that your votes are counted and announced. We will not allow what happened in the last elections to happen anymore.”
