The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has cautioned candidates preparing for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, against selecting incorrect subject combinations during registration, warning that the mistake could cost them admission into their preferred courses.
The examination body gave the warning on Friday, November 6, 2026, in a post on its verified X account, @jamb_hq, as part of its ongoing “JAMB Explained” video series.
In the latest episode, JAMB provided guidance on how prospective candidates can identify and verify the appropriate subject requirements for their intended courses before registering for the examination.
The board explained that subject combinations were a fundamental requirement in the admission process, noting that candidates who select the wrong subjects could become disqualified from consideration for their preferred programmes, irrespective of their UTME scores.
It advised candidates to rely on the official JAMB brochure when checking the subject requirements for their chosen courses rather than depending on information from friends or cybercafé operators, which could be outdated or incorrect.
JAMB also urged prospective candidates to visit its official website to confirm the relevant requirements before the commencement of registration.
