Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Seyi Makinde, has expressed confidence that God and the support of Nigerians will propel him to victory in the 2027 presidential election.
He spoke on Sunday during a church service organised by the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, in Jos, Plateau State.
Makinde said he had no political godfather other than God.
He added that his emergence as governor of Oyo State in 2019 without the backing of political godfathers had strengthened his belief in his presidential ambition.
Recalling his experience during the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Makinde said he had faced questions about how he hoped to become governor without the support of influential political figures.
“When I said in Oyo State in 2018 that I wanted to become governor, somebody asked me, ‘Governor of which Rotary District?’ They also asked who my political godfather was. I told them I had God the Father, and I became the Governor of Oyo State.
He expressed confidence that God would once again support his presidential ambition and show mercy to Nigeria.
The APM candidate said Nigeria needed an urgent governance reset to address poor leadership, economic hardship and other challenges facing the country.
“The need to change the direction of our country informed the RESET NIGERIA agenda, which is designed to make life easier for Nigerians.
“The agenda focuses on four key areas: security, the economy, education and the socio-political space,” he said.
