Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming general elections in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli has warned financial institutions against further approval of loans for Oyo State government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the APC, noted that any financial institution that lent the governor another loan would be called to answer what transpired.
Alli gave the warning while reacting to a recent move by Makinde to obtain another N100 billion loan from a commercial bank.
DAILY POST reports that Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
The governor is expected to complete his second term in office in May next year.
But Alli, in the statement signed by the director of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, claimed that the proposed funds meant for the forthcoming local government election in the state was another way to waste resources.
He said, “Financial institutions cannot afford to disregard prudential lending standards merely because a sitting governor is seeking credit facilities.”
