Oct. 26—PULLMAN — The 2027 Apple Cup will be played in August.
Washington State and Washington have agreed to move next year’s rivalry game from Sept. 18 to Aug. 28, according to a Monday release, moving the longstanding series to August for the first time in its 118-year history.

The 2027 game, set for Gesa Field in Pullman, will be the fourth game of a five-year series extension the sides agreed to in 2023, not long after the traditional Pac-12’s collapse. The 2028 game, scheduled for Seattle, is the last one under contract.
The Huskies won this year’s game, a 24-10 decision in Seattle, and they own an all-time advantage of 78-34-6.
With this move, WSU now has a bye for its fourth week of action. Here is the Cougars’ 2027 schedule so far.
Aug. 28: vs. Washington
Sept. 4: vs. Idaho
Sept. 11: vs. Kansas
Sept. 18: Idle
Sept. 25: at Arizona
