Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has congratulated the Flamingos following the team’s successful outing at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos defeated Japan 2-1 in the final of the competition in Rabat on Saturday night, making history as the first African side to win the title.
Awawu Bashiru gave Nigeria the lead with a looping ball six minutes before the break.
Oluebube Umejiaku then doubled the Flamingos’ lead two minutes after the break.
Japan reduced the deficit through Fuki Ito 10 minutes from time.
The Flamingos, however, held on to record a historic victory.
Ajibade took to social media to celebrate Akeem Busari’s side.
“WORLD CHAMPIONS! You made history, and you made all of Nigeria proud. I’m so proud of every one of you. The future of Nigerian football is here. Congratulations, Flamingos,” Ajibade wrote on X.
