11,000 child sexual abuse images allegedly found on Iowa man’s phone
DES MOINES, Iowa (TCN) — a 53-year-old man has been arrested and charged with 10 counts related to the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material.
On Sept. 25, Des Moines Police announcedKevin Kasal had been jailed and charged with 10 felonies following an investigation that began with a tip that he allegedly had child sexual abuse photos in his possession.
The investigation into Kasal began on Sept. 14, WHO-TV reports. A search warrant was executed on his personal cellphone on Sept. 22.
On the phone, the warrant allegedly uncovered 11,000 photos and 500 videos depicting children under 18 partially or fully nude, with some engaging in sexual acts, according to police. The alleged content appeared to have been downloaded from the internet.
WHO-TV reports Kasal was booked into the Polk County Jail on Sept. 24 and charged with 10 counts of purchase/possess depiction of minor in sex act — first offense.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
