TRENTON, N.J. – Two people are dead, and eight others injured after police say multiple suspects opened fire on a block party in Trenton early Sunday morning.
What we know:
Trenton police responded to reports of multiple shots fired on the 100 block of Locust Street around 12:25 a.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, first responders located 10 confirmed victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two individuals were pronounced dead, a 33-year-old woman and 42-year-old man. Eight other victims, two women and six men ranging in age from 23 to 43, were treated for their injuries and stabilized at a local hospital.

More than 50 shell casings were found at the scene, which encompassed an entire city block.

Trenton Mayor W. Reed Gusciora said they are still learning about the victims of the shooting, but released details about the man who was killed.
“We understand that one of the individuals who lost his life had been working to turn his life around after returning home from incarceration and had recently been recognized for his commitment to reentry and positive change,” Gusciora said.
