The Cleveland Browns have a very critical decision to make on the first night of the NFL draft in just a couple of weeks.
It goes without saying that they are going to focus on the offensive side of the ball, but even there, they have so many holes to address. The two biggest, by far, are at tackle and at wide receiver. They will be at a fork in the road when they are on the clock with the sixth overall pick.

Do they go tackle first and pass catcher second, or do they do pass catcher and then tackle later in the draft? If they chose the former, one target will surface at the end of the first round, and that was a player who officially visited Berea on Wednesday.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Browns hosted wide receiver KC Concepcion from Texas A&M. It was reported weeks ago that this visit was on the docket for the Browns and for Concepcion, and it finally happened this week.
Concepcion is a fascinating prospect because he is a player that Cleveland could target at either pick No. 24 or they could target on night two in the second round. Concepcion spent his first two seasons in college at NC State before transferring to Texas A&M, and burst onto the scene when he torched the Notre Dame defense for four catches and 82 yards in week three.

From a fit perspective, I think the Cleveland should view Concepcion as a “nice to have” and not a “need to have.” There are a couple of wide receiver prospects on the board that drastically change the Browns’ wide receiver room the second they step in the building. Concepcion is not that.
Standing at 6’0″ and weighing in at 196 pounds, he needs to either possess elite top-end speed, which he does not or elite route running. He is good at both aspects, but at that size, to be effective, you must be elite, and I don’t see that elite trait.
If Cleveland were to come away with Concepcion as their top wide receiver in this draft, that would not warrant excitement. If they get him along with another player before him, then I think that Cleveland would be executing a very specific plan to flip that wide receiver room in one night.
In his final year at Texas A&M, Concepcion had 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns. He is a very good player, but it would be a reach if Cleveland went shopping for him at the end of the first round.
